A little bit of history…
In 1990 Alinda immigrated with her family from Holland to Canada.
Alinda has an agricultural background, growing up on a dairy farm and working summer jobs at chicken and pig farms. After graduating Humber College in 1994 with a diploma in Horse Studies, Alinda worked as a show jumping groom for 3 years, a job that took her across the world including the 1995 Pan Am Games in Buenos Aires and the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. After 3 years of grooming Alinda managed the barn for 2 more years.
In 2001, after working at a vet clinic for 2 years, Alinda was looking for a career change. When she heard about the profession of Appraiser she thought it sounded good, signed up and was taking the first course towards her new career 2 weeks later.
After 6 years of studying part time and working full time as a Candidate Appraiser, she received her CRA designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 2008 and started Dekker Appraisal Services shortly thereafter.
Alinda is Director at Large with the Appraisal Institute of Canada-Ontario (2020-Current) and is the past President (2012-2018) of the Waterloo-Wellington Chapter of the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
Alinda is fluent in both English and Dutch.
Dekker Appraisal Services is affiliated with Daniel Doucet Appraisal Services. Alinda and Daniel work together on agricultural appraisal assignments.
